Bass, both large and small are hitting and hitting aggressively on Pools 4 & 5 of the mighty Mississippi. A number of 3 and 4 pound smallies. Many are still hanging close to nesting areas. Try 'deadsticking' a plastic. We used Culprit Tassel Lizards and Tassel Worms with much success. Use the sharpest hooks you can find!
We also had some good luck with smallmouths off of rocks with a current. The 'Suicide' bass were hitting on white spinnerbaits, willow tails not colorado blades. 3/8 oz seemed to draw more strikes. Us a slow roll method.
If all else is failing, throw a weightless jerk shad on top of subsurface weeds. Let it drop into any holes, and then give a quick jerk. HANG ON! Try pearl colored Culprit Jerk Shads with Daiichi Blood hooks.
Many guys were having luck with lipless rattles and cracks, but we never got to test them.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~ Chuck Clark
