Here is the scenario...

You go out for a full day of fishing, in the morning you catch 2 walleye. You go with your fishing partner to cook up a shore lunch and you eat those 2 walleye. But now your day of fishing is only half over and in the afternoon the bite really picks up and you both catch your limit of walleye. Now the question, do those 2 walleye you caught earlier in the day and have already consumed count towards your limit?

I know your limit includes any fish in storage at home but how about in storage inside your stomach? I have heard different opinions on the topic but lets hear some of yours.

yes they do.Mine is not an opinion.
It is the truth & factual.

There was a post awhile back were the question was raised as to fishing on a lake that had a slot and could they be eatin on the lake.
The answer was no,because they had to be intact to be measured ,but if it were the perch were there was no slot ,they could be eaten .Yet they still counted towards the daily limit.Same goes for eyes.

I called the CO here in town to get the clarification.

Thats what I have always gone with but its not clearly stated anywhere in the Regs. book that I have found atleast.

Now here is the stumper.. smile smiley

What if you caught 2 fish on Monday went home and ate them. You then go out Tuesday morning but those 2 fish from Monday night are still in your stomach then would those 2 fish count towards your possession limit? After all they are still in your possession.

Daily is daily. You can have 6 walleyes with 1 over 20 unless the lake has it's own slot.No more no less, other wise your double dipping. wink smiley

If is a big word. tongue smiley
If my boot was buried in your hinney could you still eat 2 walleyes or would you be reduced to 1. laugh smiley laugh smiley laugh smiley

Some guy's would consider no flag ,no foul as the rule.

I've seen small deer not getting tagged and eaten for camp meat.
I've seen fish eaten for shore lunch and not counted ,but if a DNR agent can prove it you'll be fined.
I guess it comes down to your ethics.

I know men that back in the 50's and early 60's who did not even get liscenced ,but who needed one when you take gunny sacks full of eyes.

I think CK is right. "Daily limit" means exactly that.

Now, if you would ever get caught is another story. Unless the CO followed you all day and saw you 1) catch two; 2) clean them; 3) eat them; and 4) catch the rest, you probably could get away with it. But, as CK also noted, if you are ethical fisherman you wouldn't do that.
