I got to the lake and immediately headed for the end of the lake across from the Applebee's. I anchored in about 3 ft of water and started casting into 6 to 8 ft of water let me tell you I was killing them guys it seemed like every cast I got a fish. Then some folks decided to join me again. He eventually moved when I started to cast right next to his massive boat claiming my territory. Then a another guy backtrolled right in between and scared all the fish away for a little while he didn't stay either. Now here comes the rant.... There were some folks shore fishing they were hitting my boat and fishing right off of me I almost grabbed their line and pulled the dang rod out of their hands. The people that fish this particular lake are so rude! By the way I caught a ton of crappies, bass and 2 bullheads YUCK!!!!

Not having a boat myself I feel the plight of shore fisherman. Shore fisherman are pretty restricted to where they can fish and actually have a chance at some fish. Was it possible for you to move your boat to a place that would have given the people from shore some room and still allowed you to catch fish?

I have had people with boats pull up right in front of where I am fishing from shore and park their boat right where I was casting. While they have the right to use the lake common sense says you don't don't that. Its easier for a boat to move since the people on shore are pretty limited in options.

If you were anchored in 3 feet of water and then casting into deeper water where the fish were could you have tried anchoring in that 6-8 feet of water range and then just cast parallel to where you were to still fish in that 6-8 foot range?

Just remember that shore fisherman have only one option for where to cast and that is straight out, you can cast out 360 degrees around you and you can move your boat out 10-15 feet further. My guess is that while you were mad at the shore fisherman for casting at your boat the shore fisherman where mad at you for putting your boat where they want to cast. Just look at it from both sides.

I guess I am just a softy for shore fisherman in this case because I am one, so I hope you aren't offended by me giving my perspective on the issue.

I too know the plight of the shore fishnerman I was one for alot of years and when I arrived there was no one there If they had been there I would not have anchored there. Also they left and came back with some friends before they left I thought everything was cool because they were fishing an entirely different spot and catching just as many fish as I was. Then they came back with some younger friends about an hour later and while they were still catching just as many fish as I was There was one guy in particular who kept hitting my boat that's what I pissed about.

Well in that case, theres not much you can do other then ask the guy why he keeps hitting your boat. My guess is he had the idea that the fishing would be better in the shadow that your boat was casting. Basically like fishing under a dock or diving platform.

I do see both of your points. But, if there is someone from the shore is upset because a boat took their spot before they got there, why can't they walk down the shore and cast? The same goes for the boat fisherlady who pulls up and someone is casting right where they wanted to fish. Just move to a different spot. We can all get along with a little common curtesy.

You got it BD. Sounds like since everyone was catching equal amounts of fish no one there should have needed to crowd another person.

Most of us get upset with other fisherman crowding us at times. Its all part of the game.

Good, I'm happy we are all getting along again! cool smiley Who knows nofish, if you treat the people in the boats right, they might just have an extra seat for you one day, and invite you along!

You never know, crazier things have happened.

I'm such a nice guy, who wouldn't like me?

Oh and back on topic, did the fish you were catching have any size to them Fishngrrl?
