Rick & I went out to the honey hole. We had a feeling with the temps warming back up & the light rain that we had all day would move the crappies back in & we were right. We fished the mud hump off of the side of the creek & caught 80-100 fish in like 3 hours.
The males really turned black in the last week or so which is what we kept for the most part.
Rick and I had too much fun tonight.

Sure thing WD. Here are a few more from last nights run. We caught around 200 fish right up in the shallows.

I'll say the same thing. Looking at some of the colors on the fish really is cool. The camera does not show them as well in real life. The purples do not show up very well or some of the blue hues, but they are pretty.

Hey CK,
Some really nice fish there. Congrats to you and you fishing buddies!
The first picture in the very first post of this thread was one I found especially interesting. I am not a huge believer in the color of a lure making a big difference MOST of the time. In my mind it is far more important to be focused on fishing at the right depth, at the proper speed, with a proper sized lure, that has a proper action to it, than whether my lure has a blue or black spot on it. You obviously had the depth, speed, size, and action issues nailed.
However, when you have all those issues of depth, speed, size, and action dialed in correctly the fine tuning of color can sometimes mean the difference in catching several more fish in a day.
In the first picture it appears you caught that crappie on a aqua/charteruse combo for the hair color on the jig. I have rarely seen anyone else use the aqua/charteruse, or aqua at all for that matter. I use it quite a bit , and at times find it a decidedly better option... just not very well known.
I was wondering if it is a color you have had some good success with. I have with bass and crappie. What have you been finding with that color combo? Is it one of your "go to" type colors for the waters you are fishing, or is it just a, "once in a while for a change of pace", type color? I was just really surprised to see someone else using it and would be curious to see how your success has been with it. Again, congrats on a great day!
Good Fishing To Ya,

I agree for the most part of what you've said. I have seen where 1 color combo does work better then others as water clarities have something to do with that Jason. Most of the waters I'll fish are stained.Yet there are a few that are clear. So having the yellow combos for stained water & the white for clear water works for me. I am a huge believer in sizing. In the winter I'm down to 80'ths that are 1/2" long for the most most part, yet in the summer when the water warms you can get the same fish on a 1/4 oz with 3" shad.
That blue/yellow is a killer combo as I've drilled 100's of crappies & gills& bass & perch &pike on it this spring. I have a guy out east in N.Y. that's drilling fish on red/whites. Like you said for the most part color does not matter ,but those small 64th's are doing a number on the spring pannies.
