I hope everbody is OK the local news made it seem like this was going to be one of the bigger fires in a while.

Let us know how things are doing up there Gunflint if you get a chance.

I'll pray for rain for the area.

They evacuated the upper end of the Gunflint today. Last I heard the fire was between 6000 and 8000 acres but that was around noon and nothing but wind since so I'm sure it's bigger by now. This one has me a little nervous because of the potential for several friends losing homes and businesses. I'm safe were I'm at, the fire is 25 miles farther up the Trail and moving away from us. I'll give updates as I hear them. gunflint

I didn't even notice what topic it was in. Anyway, the people in charges are doing a very poor job updating locals, When you go to the web sites that they recommend the only updates are the time stamp and the information is a day or two behind. 40 structures are gone now and last I heard the fire is heading up the Sag corridor. Today will probably be the make it or break it day. Sun, and wind. I'm guessing here but I would think that anything left standing at the end of the day today should be alright. An interesting situation will arise when it's all over. The sprinkler systems have been doing a great job overall but it will be interesting to see the reaction of those who still have a cabin when everything around them is scorched earth. We have all (the locals) have been talking about this for years, but once it happens it's still a shock.

Hopefully they get that thing under control soon! We will keep our fingers crossed for those up there. It didn't look good on the news last night!
