April 23 and 24, 2007 Sunny, breezy, 70s air temps
When you only get a little time to go fishing you really need to take advantage of it all you can. I am not able to get a day off here much lately so I have been grabbing 20 or 30 minutes after work on the way home to wet a line. Go down to the local pond and I have found a spot that the panfish are moving into getting ready to spawn. Casting is somewhat difficult as the trees are hanging over the water and the brush on the shore is fairly thick. So I have found one spot that there is an opening in and I am only able to cast out maybe 6 feet at the most. But in this spot that is all I need as the crappies, sunnies, perch and bass are coming and going through this spot. By having an opportunity as this, makes for some outstanding shore fishing and you can never seem to get enough. I am fishing with a float set at around 14 inches and have been using T.H.E Jig as a bait of choice. The only drawback that I am facing is landing the cast into a branch or tree and losing my rig but fortunately so far that hasnt been the case. You only need to leave the float sitting for a few seconds and if they arent biting move it a little and they will bite. No bait is required as T.H.E. Jig is all they need and by fishing with such a small bait, this attracts more numbers of fish. I am looking forward to the next outing as the Loby Baits is coming out to play and put the hurt on these pre spawn and spawning fish. Until next time .
