Generally speaking most of the guys that focus on bass are more in the Twin Cities area. And since Winnie is known as a walleye lake it probably doesn't get a lot of bass fisherman heading up there.
This has some benefits and some draw backs. Its harder to find information on the bass, and it probably means there are fewer bass to be had but from my experience some of the northern lakes hold bigger bass becuase they are underfished and as long as a few of them can get along with the walleye and pike they are allowed to grow quite large.
I know that holds true in a few lakes I fish up that way. Hard to target the bass up there becuase there are so few but the ones you do stumble into are piggies.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~ Chuck Clark
