I just tossed a bag and a half of Storm Crayfish that I've had in my tackle bag for 2, maybe 3 seasons. Never had any luck with them. Wondering how popular crayfish are in MN. Anyone use crawdad baits for bass? (Jigs excluded.)

I am sure they are good for smallies. Crayfish are a big part of a smallies diet.

According to an In-Fisherman article walleyes will eat them at times to.

I have used crayfish for walleyes and have had some success with them. I use them primarily at night. Seems to be the only time I can get them to bite at the things. Might have to do with them being nocturnal.

Crayfish do come out at night and spend most of the day time hours in dark areas and under rocks so I would assume the walleye don't really consider them an option until after dark.

I use plastics that simulate crawdads and do well for bass and pike mainly. Live craws are illegal now in MN I think. I did use them when I was a youngun, before all the laws came out, with som e success.
