Is there any fish to be had in this deep hole?

I only ask…because…I’ll be back up there sometime in the month of August.

There’s more then one?.....jk...I should have known better.

The Turtle Lake we are going to is in Itasca country just north of Marcell.

My in-laws are coming from all over the country, “something like 20- 25 people”. We are renting a cabin for the week and will be celebrating my wife’s mom and dad’s fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Now…..and I could be wrong…but, I think this is the same lake that a friend back in high school had their cabin on. If it is, it’s deep & clear, and I haven’t been up there in a long time.

Are you guys staying at Arcadia Lodge?

Yes it's still crystal clear even more so then when we were tearing up the lake water skiing back in the late 80's.

Pretty much the same lake makeup wise lots of Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass I'm almost certain they have a slot on Bass again this year so you'll want to check that out.
The Regs for Turtle last year were - "all bass over 12" must be immediately released. Only 1 over 20" in possession per angler."
The occasional Eye or Pike can be had, with 12 feet of water clarity the best times are going to be the low light hours.
There are some decent Crappies and smaller gills also.
If all that fails you can always count on the Rock Bass to keep you and the relitics busy!

Good Luck sounds like a fun time.

PierBridge,

Yes….I do believe that is the place we’re staying. It should be a great time. Just getting out anywhere is always welcome.

I wasn’t sure if it was the same lake….but I had a feeling it was. Your baja was assume. And I’ll never forget the good times we had up there.

I understand about fishing clear water….and I remember that crawlers at dusk on the rocks by the island was a spot to be worked.

I just couldn’t remember if this was the same lake.

Thanks.
