It's really hard to think nothing but fishing when springtime hits Minnesota, it's one of the things I like doing best.

Sure, there's still hardwater on the lakes and patches of snow left in some of the shady areas. But the warmth and scent of spring makes it very hard to concentrate on anything but fishing. Maybe that's why there has been a flurry of changes to the website here smile smiley

For the past 6 months I have been looking at my boat in the garage; looking at some rods on the wall and the tacklebox on the shelf; waiting for the day when I can hitch it up, load it up and drive off to one of my favorite haunts. Yesiree folks, I got it bad and sitting in the office when it's so gull darn nice out doesn't make it any better.

Sure, I get out on the ice once in a while, but for me, the real passion is the waves, wind and open water... the ability to explore a bay I've never been to or to try a drop-off I've never tried. The eagle and loons around. The sound of water lapping the shore and my pals and I bobbing up and down in the boat.

You know the best times? I'm sure you do. Early in the morning with the sun cracking the horizon and it's so quiet you can hear a splash in the next bay. The hot cup of coffee when there's a nip in the air. The smell of pine or cedar as you maneuver your boat as close as you can to a steep shoreline. The squeal of the draq when something big hits. The good times that are created with My fishing Pals that we'll chew on during future winters.

I read somewhere that there should be a law in Minnesota that when the temperature is 65 degrees or warmer on any day of any month, the fishing season is open. Now, how great would that be? Being a fisherperson yourself, I am sure you would vote for it.

So... what's the point of this post? Not sure really. Just trying to convey some feelings I have and maybe putting them down in words. Sure is nice that spring is coming, it's my favorite time of year. I can't wait to get out on the water again, winter seems so long...

Yesiree folks, I got it bad...

I have to bad too, I did notice Lake Snelling across from the airport is opening up really fast. Ice is pulled away from the entire shore line, and the remaining ice is black and full of holes, with 60 degrees for a day or two that ice won't last too long.

The river does offer a nice little temporary cure for the fever, it felt so good to cast a lure again instead of just dropping it down a hole.

Today's weather is just about PERFECT! 68 in Cloquet and perfect day for a walk (while listening to AC/DC Live.) High School baseball games start in 2 weeks also so all is good and winter is over smile smiley(hope I didn't bring white stuff to the forecast now.)
