Even though I still have a good 12 base of snow in the yard I do believe I have seen the three signs of spring!
1. While I was outside grilling venison last night a flock of Canadians flew over the house to land in the frozen pond. Even though most of you see these birds year round they migrate through my area and are a definite sign the critters are back.
2. When I left for work this morning I had to stop to let a yearling cross the road 100yards down from my house. This also does not sound like a big deal but the deer do not winter on my land. This means they are starting to break out from the winter herd and a sure thing that the critters are back.
3. Last but not least as I rounded the second S curve SPLAT you guessed it a moth to the windshield!
A sure sign the critters are back and Spring has Sprung!
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
