Anyone with any experience fishing the mississippi river/minnehaha creek area from shore during the spring?
PB, I know you hit the Minnehaha Creek area in the spring, how early do you start to see a walleye or small mouth bite going there?
I am getting the itch for some open water and this should be a good spot to scratch the itch. I am thinking that once some of this snow starts to melt we might be seeing some action in that area, am I correct in this guess?
I went and checked out the Hidden Falls park/ramp today I did have a pole with but the snow was a little to deep and I didn't feel like slipping into the Mississippi River just yet so I passed on fishing. I can't speak for the Bass but the Walleyes are going to be more active here shortly once the weather warms up things will begin to roll. If I don't hit Red Wing this weekend I may trek down the stairs and give Minnehaha Creek a go.
Thanks for the info PB. I think i will give it another week or so before I give it a shot. Looks like 40 degree temps will be here for awhile starting this weekend so that should start the melting process pretty good.
I have tried from shore a couple times during the day with no results, but now that the water is starting to get some color back along with the warming water temps this should be the time to get out and stick a pig. Now if I can just get my truck fixed I'll be good to go.
