I have been searching the archive, which is located at the bottom of the forum, and I can't find a bunch of posts I made last year. I am searching through the browser for my username and I am finding a lot, but I know there are some posts missing.

So, what's up with that?

Ted,

You are looking at just what I managed to get off the drive before it totally toasted. I think the archive has about 5% of what was originally there. I was going to try to load it back into the database, but the way I got the data out was just a long text file and frankly, it would have taken way too much time to load it again.

As for the 95% of the missing posts, I found a service that would have gotten them off the hard drive, but they wanted $800 to see if the data could be salvaged (non-refundable), and then $2000 to $13,000 for the actual data retrieval (depending on time and effort). Well, needless to say, the money would have come out of my pocket and it is a little much for something I do on the side, so I opted to throw the drive. I wish I had the posts, but that is just the way it is.

By the way, I had lost all the users too, so what you are looking at in the forum is what has been built and started since 11/04/04. That is the date the forum went live again after the major crash. All the posts you see before that were cut from the archived file and manually added to the new database. In other words, the very first 13 topics you see on this forum are from the old database that I loaded and then figured it was going to take a very long time to load the rest of what I had.

So, to make a long story short, the archives is about %5 of the original database and I just took the text file I had and added the link to the bottom of the forum so people could see part of what I had.

Hope this makes sense. Sorry about the loss, but nothing I can do at this point.
