Grand Prize: Custom Made Eelpout Fish House

From Ice Castle Fish Houses -- The official Fish House of the International Eelpout Festival

The ice conditions on Walker Bay of Leech Lake as of February 5, 2007:

Too much Ice?

Most of Walker Bay has over 24" of ice. With temps dipping into the -25 degrees range the past few nights has made even more ice. Tournament officials are now concerned that too much ice will lead to whining by festival contestants as they try to auger through the 2 feet of ice in search of the elusive eelpout.

The Sheriffs office continues to monitor the ice thickness and has indicated that with the current ice thicknesses and continued cold weather there will be no vehicle restrictions for 2007.

You are reminded to use caution if you choose to travel on the ice.
