It was colder then all get out on the big pond on Saturday. Started out pretty slow. Caught a few perch in the morning on the flats. Moved out to a flat out on the north end around noon and had much better luck. Very windy out there so moving was a pain. Decided to fish there a while regardless of the bite. Right after dark we caught a bunch of walleyes the biggest being 26". Used a plain red hook with a splitshot. Suckers and shiners worked for us. Graphed many fish but the bite would turn on a while then turn off.
Thinking of heading up to Winnie in a couple of weeks. Any news up there?
It looks like this report when in the wrong thread, so here it is again. I went to Mille Lacs with two friends and we didn't catch a thing. I tried it all, all different colors and baits with no luck. I even had perch coming up to the jig with no meat and they still wouldn't bite it. We were in about 26 feet about three miles out. Cold Windy and No Fish!!
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~ Chuck Clark
