There is not much I do not like about fishing and everything that goes along with that. From planning and outting -- to getting out on the lake or river -- soft or hard water. Then of course if one is succesful -- there is the catching -- dressing and fixing the fish !!

This morning I took out a package of fresh fish just caught yesterday and yelled to everyone in the house --- "So -- How do you like your fish ??"

There really was not much of a choice - -but it is always good to ask !!! LOL !!

Sliced up some potatoes -- onions -- a bit of garlic to start with. Pulled out a dozen eggs -- a bit of milk -- some flour -- Lawry's season salt and a bit more pepper. Doubled check to make sure there was bread for the toaster and a mid morning breakfast was on its way !!!

So -- How do you like your fish ?

That is the focus of this forum trail -- would love to hear about ways of cooking fish --- when do you like to serve fish the most -- breakfast - lunch - dinner -- or ANY TIME !! What is your favorite receipe ??

It has amazed me how many love to fish and how many do not like eating fish --- maybe if we all learned some new ways of serving fresh fish --- we could change some minds about eating fish.

Web Dude -- maybe we could have a file, or list of good ways to serve up the bounty that seems to be coming across these forums ??

So lets hear from you all -- cooks and those who enjoy good cooking !!!

Funny mine don't make it to the fridge..
they are ether fried in oil or saltines..
or a light flouring and set in the pan to cook on low heat..

I love the breading made by Shorelunch, the original stuff in the black box is the best. Coat the fish and then cook it in oil for a few minutes and your are in heaven.

I never freeze mine then eat. I'll give it away to my elderly neighbors 1st so they can have fresh fish.

Anyway I soak mine in butter milk & roll in fryin magic breading.
Then I'll sprinkle cajun pepper & slat on them.I'll eat them as is-no sauces for dipping.

So -- you have had a great day -- lots of fish and not enough mouths to eat -- so time to freeze --- what is the best way to freeze fish for another day ??

If I do freeze for my folks I use double zip lock bags cover fillets with water & bleed all of the air out of the bag. That way they do not get burnt.
In the old days ma used milk cartons.

Flour, salt & pepper(sometimes red sometimes black)put in a zip lock bag. Dry off the filet's and shake them up in the bag of flour and deep fry in peanut oil, I already killed the fish I don't want to kill the taste too.

Vacuum packing your fish is the best way to go. It will last longer in the freezer and tastes just like it came out of the lake when you cook it up.

How do I like my fish? I like mine big! (Sorry, I couldn't help it).

A little milk and eggs mixed in a bowl, Finely ground cornflakes with a pinch of salt, pepper and thyme. A large ziplock bag.

Add the dry ingredients into the ziplock. Dip the fillets in the milk and egg mixture and put them into the ziplock. Shake, then gently press the dried ingredients into the fillet. Do not press too hard.

Remove from bag and deep fry in vegetable oil (hot) until golden brown. Garnish with a wedge of lemon if you like.

Mmmmm --- mmmmm - - - I am getting hungery just thinking about it grin smiley

Hey pastorlight52,

If we get enough unique recipes... at least 10 UNIQUE recipes, I could see having a database of these and a way to search them and/or list them.

In fact, I think it is a great idea. I need more stuff on this site and adding this might get me going on doing other stuff too.

Thanks!

Might want to have more detailed recipes though. "Dip it in flour and fry" may not quite be the ticket, if you know what I mean.
