Hello, Iam new to this forum and would like to start out with a few questions. First since Iam planning a fishing vacation to the Bemidji area in late august I would like some tips on the lakes around there. Is there any other resorts on Lake Plantagenet then balsam bay? I have searched the internet but have not had any luck finding any other. Is it really as good of a lake as they say it is?

I was also considiring staying at a resort on either Blackduck lake or Lake Andrusia, wich one of those lakes is better for a variaty of fish like walleye, pike and panfish? How good is the fishing the week before labor day usualy? Thanks for any answers guys.

Hi Jason,
I do not fish those lakes.I'm in Aitkin Co. just north of Mille Lacs & we have many lakes to choose from in the time frame you've indicated.
There are others here that should know those areas.

Hi Jason and welcome,

Ive been fishing and I was out on plantaganet this past weekend and we caught a bunch of perch, some up to 12 inch. Lot of fun. Been primarily on the east end and fishing between 22 and 28 feet. Caught o few 'eyes out there too but they were all around 12 inches with one going 14. not A big deal.

Hey Jason -- I also am fairly new to the forum but have found the bunch here great !!! I live right in the area and would be glad to share what info I may have. Lake Plantagenet is like anyother lake -- one day you can not keep them out of the boat the next day -- nothing. But there are lots of lakes around to choose from. Bemidji Lake always seems to give up a few. Up in the Blackduck area there is no lack of lakes and lots of resorts to choose from. My advise is to check the Bemidji Chamber of Commerce web site and order their visitors guide. You can also get good lake maps locally.
