Sounds like an old girlfriend. Getting around then got big!!!

Good job Dude with the links and all.
Those of us that post are responseable for the growth too.Content ,content, content. When a search engine looks for key words and or phrase it will see them in our posts. The more you have about a certain topic in different contexes the higher it rates this site.

Keep up the posts!

Hey CK,

"The more you have about a certain topic in different contexes the higher it rates this site."

That is not neccessarily true. If it was, only the sites with the most pages would be at the top of the search engines. While content is good, it really has nothing to do with ranking.

Case in point...

FM, Catch-n, invominnesota, LakeState, etc. are pretty good sized sites. I would even venture that a couple of these have much more content then MFP. In fact, FM has probably over 20,000 users and I bet they have 20 times more content in their forums then we do, if not more. Yet when you search for Minnesota fishing forums, we pop up #1 and #2. Design, developemnt and good old fashioned knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) plays a much more important role in ranking. While I like these sites, and I visit them, most of them lack any real expertise when it comes to SEO. I can tell just by looking at them and looking at their code. A couple of them may have good developers/designers, but SEO work is fairly specialized. Even though I am a developer, I have been doing SEO for over 10 years. Even before google was born. A good understanding of algorithms, linking structure, design and development strategies all play an important role. If it was as easy as just adding content, everyone would be building half a million page web sites.

When you finally get your site up and running and selling some product, get a hold of me and we can discuss a little SEO work. Wouldn't it be great if someone typed in jighead, your site would pop up #1? I bet you would get some sales then smile smiley

I am really going to try to make BSL in January. I think I still have a couple of the jigs you gave me. We'll see. Like I stated before, I only hit the ice about 5 times last year. It's been really tough getting out. I was just on the phone with Tap and I am going to see what I can do.
