Hey kansasRon,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. We got some trout guys on the forum, though I haven't heard from them lately. Also, my brother does a lot of fishing up there, but he pretty much goes after 'eyes.

I have done some trout fishing up on the Baptism Rirver and some of the related small lakes up there. In fact, I used to do a lot of ice fishing for trout. There are lots of trout streams and lakes. I'll see if I can dig up some more specific info for the Gunflint.

Thanks for joining!

Hi kansasRon, Welcome to the forum!

You might want to try looking here. Notice that the *** lakes are for the BWCA. Also, a lot of the ST. Louis county lakes are up around there.

I hope this helps...

Welcome to the Forum Ron. I have to agree with webdude and i have fished the Baptism river. I feel the best place to go on the Baptism is in Superior National Forest West of Grand Marais. There is also a honey hole i fish up there on the Junco River for Brookies.

Good Luck and enjoy it, its my favorite part of Mn.

Ron, there are a bunch of fine campcrounds due west of Grand Maraise about 5-10 miles. the highest point of Mn. up near there is Eagle Mountain. Its so pretty up there you wouldn't beleive. The rise in elevation will make your ears pop and the views are incredible.
I've always camped using tents but there are many RV accessible sites too. This is the area where i've seen the best show from the northern lights(Oct). The Aroras are breathtaking!
Have a good time and be safe!
