When I get to work now in the morning (6 am.), I can see the beginning of dawn. Means that the days are getting longer. It means the soft water is coming.

Lately I have been taking my manuals (boat, motor, Lowrance, gps, etc,) with me to things like my kids hockey practice and the other kids piano lessons and reading them to see if there is anything I missed. Or to gleen for more information. Gotta know all about what I got.

Went through my reels and oiled them. They are running smooth now. Should I get another one? I probably will if the wife lets me. Could always use another one.

Last couple of weeks I have pulled out all my tackle to take inventory of what I have and what I need. Looks pretty good. Could always use a little more of this and a little more of that, though.

I had a dream the other night, of getting in my boat and driving along. Not even fishing, just driving along with the wind blowing. I don't remember too much of the dream, but I remember glimpses of looking over at at my brother once in a while. The water was smooth and we had big grins on our faces.

My son's birthday is coming up and he is debating on what he wants. He'll be ten. Usually, at our house, the kids will list what they want on paper and post it on the fridge. I glanced at his list last night and among the usual games for the Game Cube, bike, DVD's and such, he wrote for a new rod and reel and more tackle for my old tackle box I gave him last year. I asked him why he wanted the new rod and reel since I bought him a new one last year, and he said he could always use a good backup. He must take after his old man. You gotta love him.

My boat won't fit in my garage so my brother-in-law was gracious enough to let me store it in one of his garages. I have been debating on whether or not to go over to his house and ask him if I could just go in and look at it. I opted not to, he would probably think I was a nut. I got some good pictures of the boat though. I find myself pulling them out and looking more lately. Gonna give it a good wax job as soon as it gets warm enough.

Any warm days coming when the snow is melting definitely does not help...

I've got it bad, don't I?

I'll say you got it bad. But then again, I found myself this past weekend pulling out my tackle and thinking of the opener. Can't wait for the open water. I hope it's soon!

Definitely got the itch. Been out surfing looking at all the fishing sites and looking for stuff to possibly buy for the up-coming season. I can close my eyes and feel the tug of a nice 'eye.

The first 2 years I had my boat I used to go out to my garage and just sit in the boat, dead in the middle of winter I felt much better after these therapy sessions.....LOL

Yep,

I can smell it in the air. It's coming. Got to just hang on. It will come.

By the way, new boats don't help, do they 'Dude? How many hours on that new fangled thing of yours? Did you say 12? I'd be sitting in it right now waiting for a hole to open up at the local pond. That's the way I felt. To bad it didn't fit in your garage, I bet that's where you'd be right now instead of surfing the WWW trying to appease your jones (if you know what I mean).

We are going to Ixtapa Mexico for a week. should be a good time have a trip lined up for 2 of the days, maybe I will be able to get out more. the only thing that is going to be bad that I can see is coming back to MN and the frozen lakes.

Hey Fireball,

You catch anything, you should post some pics here. I would love to see some open water for a change :-)
