Hey Fishing Pals,

This is an odd request but hopefully what the non-fishing area can be used for. I am writing this letter for my students, the Spring Grove Minnesota, Trinity Lutheran 8th grade boys’ conformation class. The boys’ names are Tanner Myrhe, Tyler Ladsten, Mathew Johnson, Mathew Anderson, Justin Olson and Tyler Brittle. They are six of the biggest Viking fans you could hope to meet (even after the NE game). Believe it or not, but they pray for the Vikings at the start of each lesson. This past Wednesday night, we discussed hunger and what we could do to help out with area hunger. We decided we would do a fundraiser and pass the proceeds onto the local food shelves. We looked for an opportunity to raise the money. We decided on the Houston County Festival of Trees November 24, 25, 26, 2006. The Festival auctions off themed trees with the money going to various charities. The boys decided to create “The Viking Tree” and the proceeds will go to the area food shelf.

I told the boys I will purchase the tree, a Viking tree skirt, and will provide the lights. They are gathering Vikings items to put with the tree. I wrote to the Vikings and got an autographed Viking License Plate Troy Williamson #82, and an autographed photo from Jeff Dugan #83. So we have a start.

Here is where I need you help. If anyone, member or guest has Viking collectables, ornaments, autographs, new hats, jerseys, tickets, etc that they would be willing to donate, I'd greatly appreciate it. Remember, the money raised will go to local food shelf in Minnesota!

Items can be sent to: Robert Gross, 308 3rd Ave SE, Spring Grove, MN 55974. Please try to have them here by the 20th of November so we can get the tree put together. I understand this is short notice, but it was just decided last Wednesday. Please feel free to contact me at (507) 429-0456, via email at rob@thefishingtree.

You guys might remember we did this last year with a fishing tree and raised over $2000 for the local groups.

Thanks,

Rob
