I need to buy a new computer for home use. I don't play games. I just do on line stuff and pictures from my camera. I am looking at a Gateway GT5220 from Best Buy. Does any one have one of these? Should I look at some thing else? I don't know a lot about computers.

please help crazy smiley crazy smiley

Scum,
You should look at the Apple 2GS, with the green screen, I think they're pretty cheap! jk

Scumfrog,

I would actually recommend you stay away from both Gateway and Best Buy for a computer. For other things, TV's, DVD, Stereo, not a problem. Gateway has some very poor customer service, as a former owner both business and personal. I've also never had a good experience with them or their machines. Best Buy is not the best spot to buy a computer from either. The Geek Squad is ok, but expensive unless you spend the extra money for the extended warranty. Most computers come with as good if not better support.

I recommend you going with a Dell. I currently own 2, have had zero problems, customer support has been great (although sometimes hard to understand). You can get a mailer or go online and build a simple machine with everthing you need, including phot software, nice web package, dvd, recorder/burner, etc for around $600, shipping included.

I am thinking of dell also. I get a discount from where I work on them. And thats what I've been using here at work for 6 years and I do like them.
