Walleyewacker.... when you say Girls thats kinda vague can you give us a ballpark figure on age and weight of this rare for Mille lacs species......and maybe tip or two on how one could land one of these. I better stop I forgot it's family site.
The Hunters point Perch and pout contest was a big success and lot's of fun. The biggest perch weighed 1.48 and was HUGE...second and third weighed 1.45, never did hear what the big Pout weighed but it looked big and slimey.
I like to start 50 to 100 hundred Yards off of the flat I am targeting in this case 9 mile flat I was hoping for less of a crowd on 9 mile compared to the flats out of Hunters but it was still quit busy out there. I like to get most of my drilling done before I start fishing I like to drill 2 hole's every 15 or 20 yards until I get up to the upward "shallower" transition of the flat and then I drill at least 10 holes along the edge in the 30 to 26 foot depths. Normally and especially during Walleye I would drill a bunch of holes on top of the flat in the 24, 25 foot depth also, with all the pressure and it being a perch contest I passed on drilling on top of the flat. Things went just about how they have in my previous Perch outing's this year, we found schools of 7 and 8 inch perch "a year maybe 2 away from being JUMBO'S" that were very finicky "lock Jaw" the majority of these fish were in the holes we drilled farthest from the flat, although 4 of the 6 keepers were caught from the edge with only JUMBO 1.1 being caught out of the first hole we drilled. Next week...Liberty Beach Perch Extravaganza.
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
