Subject: More "The Jig" Please....

Howdy Keith,

Well, I tried “The Jig” and the results were as YOU expected. I was skeptical, as I always am, but was willing to give them a go. I wanted to prove to myself that these really work, so I didn’t want to use any other bait until I caught a fish on “The Jig”. It didn’t take long, the first day I went down to the pier in the morning and gave them a try. 7 Slab crappies later and I was convinced. I caught my limit and my 2 Brothers and a friend of mines Brothers and his Sons by the end of the week and we had a fish fry in-between. We also caught all of our limits of Sunnies. I gave in and let the secret of “The Jig” out about mid week of the fishing trip, my Brothers would not believe me at first but one of them soon became a believer and was on his way to catching some nice crappies for a fish fry.

A Handshake,
Jobahahn

I would like to put in an order for 100 of “the Jig” s and have a preference for 60 of them. I had good luck with the black & chartreuse green, yellow & orange and white & black, some had the red incorporated into them. 20 each of the 100 is what I would want if possible. I will be sending you a Money Order for $100.00 dollars, please send “The Jigs” when you have finished them. I’m looking forward to ice fishing with “The Jig”.

Another Handshake with fish slime and scales,
Jobahahn

Well guy's ,I think this to be a testimonial.Way to go! smile smiley
I have 50 tied now ,so I'll get at the other 50.They should be done
by mid next week or sooner.
It makes me just giggle to see how you made them pay off.I love it.I hope you didn't mind me posting your letter.I couldn't sit on this story.
CK

CK,
What is your technique for fishing the jig during open water?
I have read about your technique for ice fishing with the spring but not much about open water. Do you use it under a small float or do you just jig it like any other jig or what?

I am trying to get up north this next week to hit a lake with great crappie and gill action and if I can make it I will put your jig to the test. I hope it can over come my ineptness.

Hi CK,

No, I don't mind you puting my e-mail on this forum. I posted an image of some of the crappies I caught, they are in the WANT ADS FORUM. Also, the check is in the mail for the next 100 jigs.

Thanks again,
Jobahahn

Thanks again Jobahahn,
It makes my day to hear that you drilled the slabs.

I fish open water differently depending on the conditions.
In the spring I'll tie a loop knot on the jig & and a small weighted cork 16" to 3'above it. then I'm working the shallows where the water is warming to see if the slabs have moved in,maybe out off of that shallow in the 8' of water. They are not far as they move imn and out everyday to feed.
Once the spawn is over I'm out doing eyes so,but sometimes I'll mark some suspended fish & verticle jig them over the side of the boat & drift through or anchore above the school. Once I see how many cranks off of the bottom I am I repeat. Come up 6 cranks hold it still & bingo.
I may just put a split shot on 16" above the jig & cast up to a floating platform & let it sink & wait for the twitch.Reel in & pitch out again.
Winter & early spring is when I'm after crappies. After that they get soft & mushy so I am not wanting them.Once we get back to cold water I'm after them again.

CK,

You'll have to come down here sometime and go after crappie once the ice is out. Mostly white crappie here, but most are good sized.
