SB,
That's absolutly wonderful to see the two boys carrying the birds out with big smiles on!! You can't ask for much more than that.
I had some Goose last night for dinner, I usually don't care for it that much, but last night. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Great Pictures!!!

That small boy looks like he is happy to hold a gun.

We have a great appreciation for gun safety in our family. I am very fortunate that my wife is on board with me on my firearm decisions. She asks only that I keep all guns in a safe and all ammo in a different location. Turtle Boy is 7 and has already taken a few shots with the 20ga when we shoot clay pigeons. Codi (my oldest) has been in the duck blind and shooting since 10. My kids go through Dad’s firearm safety training way before the state takes a turn. They both have a great appreciation of a weapon.

SB,
That's great, gun saftey is so important for the rest of their lives. My dad made my and my brothers carry an unloaded 22 for years before we had gun saftey or a loaded weapon. We always treated it as if it were a loaded shotgun, and we are all still very safe hunters! Start them young and they will never forget.
ps, how did turtle boy get his name again?

It's a funny story ,except for the beginning.SB will tell it a bit different than I would ,so I'll let him tell it.
As to gun safety,I believe it starts young. I had David set up with a daisey red rider.Complete with a button safety. Every time he shot the saftey went on,then he'd cock it ,aquire the target then he'd push the safety.Shoot then hit the safety the very next thing he did besides breath.
I made sure he never pointed it at any thing besides straight up or at the target once the range was clear.7 years old is when I started him as he was at my heels when ever I went shooting. He is a great shot now with all of the practice, bow too & I know that when he gets his own family he will teach his kids the same.I'll never forget the times we had & if he comes home alive we will continue with many more hunts to come in the future.
