Went out last night, (Tuesday)... smile smiley Do you see the smile on my face??? Fishing was AWESOME! The water has started to go up and the fish are moving and hungry. Fished mainly along the main flow of water, near the edges of lilly pads and weed beds. Numerous largemouth, a few smallies...and no slimers! They were hitting on buzzbaits and swim jigs. The boat ran great! Not a lot of boats on the water. I smiled from 5 pm to 9 pm like a little kid in a candy store!

Another nice night of fishing on pool 9. I had the honor of taking my father fishing last night. He caught his first fish ever on an artificial lure...The Chatterbait. He landed a huge sheephead...HA He has never fished with artificial before, even though he has river fished for 50+ years. The reaction on his face when it hit was priceless. Next he tied on a buzzbait and had several largemouth strikes, but had trouble setting the hook. All in all it was my favorite day of fishing this year. I caught about a dozen largemouth, ranging from 14 to 19 inches, all topwater, buzzbaits, black with double blades seemed to have enough action to make them strike.

Here is an update of pool 9. The pan fish are biting. Bluegills and sunnies are staying close to wood and weeds, of course. They are hitting on anything than presents infront of them.

Crappies were hitting on wingdams...yes, I said wingdams, with minnows.

Largemouth Bass have moved to slightly deeper water during the day, but return to the lillypads and weedbeds at night. Fish the areas where the current meets still water or slower water. Buzzbaits are still producing large bass when fished within the first 6 to 10 feet of weeds/pads. Try Dixie Dancers Buzzbaits, they are from a local Minnesota business and throw alot of water and draw hard strikes. Frogs are working well when fished over scum areas in a slow jerking method. Black frogs or black Manns Ghost. Spinnerbaits, with colorado blades seem to be the best at bringing in the big ones. 1/2 oz should do the trick. I'd stick to white with a bleeding tail.

Small mouth were also active near rock edges but more so on sand areas with some weed. We slow fished the weeds with worms and swimjigs, All Terrain weedmasters worked super with Culprit trailers.

Caught several pike on Texas rigged worms, with an occasional dogfish crazy smiley

I spent the entire weekend fishing. smile smiley smile smiley smile smiley
