It's been a while since I was up on Gull. We did pretty good! The bass action was great and the walleyes were better then expected. For the 'eyes, we used Lindys with chubs and nightcrawlers. Me and my buddy caught over 25 on Sunday in about 18 feet. A couple went into the live well for dinner and the rest back into the lake. Largest was 22" - not bad for that lake.
Spent a few hours throwing Texas rigs with grape Culprits along the weed edges. We must have caught 30 bass doing this. Was a time when that was all I fished for and it was kind of fun getting back into the groove.
By my standards (which aren't very high) I would consider it a very worth while trip. Gull is my home lake and I haven't been on it since early last year. I can tell you one thing, I did much better on Sunday then I did all of last year. My fishing days have been few and far between and it's nice to have such a successful outing when time for me is so sparse.
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
