I have a fishing page on my blog, O So Minnesota!. I just posted a new article about fishing on a budget and introducing new anglers to the sport over there that might be of interest to some of the readers here, and there are several others on the same page. If you are interested, Click Here!

Hey Mineral Man,

Good thought provokers on getting folks involved in fishing who might not do so otherwise.

As I recall you moved to Minnesota from California a short time ago (maybe 2 years?)--I may be mistaken there. Anyway, when you first were posting you were very excited about a spoon called the Super Duper. It is a long time classic spoon in parts of the country, but not so much the midwest. Just a thought here--but how about a short blog entry on your use of, and results with the Super Duper. You know, techniques, fish caught, some pictures, etc.

Again, I may be wrong here, but if memory serves you had a lot of confidence in this particular spoon. Much the same as Ck does in his jigs. I think it would be a fun fishing related topic to read. Just a thought.

Good Fishing To Ya,

Jason "The Fisher' Pence

Jason,

That's a heckuva good idea, and I might just do it. I've done some testing of the Super Duper around here, and have bagged a bunch of panfish, a couple of northerns, and some bass with them.

The biggest problem now for anglers is that only the small sizes are still made. The larger ones, which are hot for northerns, aren't in production any more. You can still buy some on eBay, but when that supply is used up, that'll be it.

The small ones, though, are death on all the sunfish and crappies. The original red, white and brass ones are the best. They're also very good for trout, either trolled or in streams, but I haven't tested them here for trout.

You fish them slowly. They wobble and move from side to side. If you try to rip them, they'll twist up your line to beat the band, and lose their effectiveness.

I'll see what I can do about writing something more detailed up for the blog.

Webdude,

Thanks for the kind words. The blog is pretty new yet, but hangover links from my old site at that URL have helped with search enging placement.

What blows me away is that Google finds it at #2 for "minnesota fishing blog". Amazing.

Of course, I've been optimizing for Google anyhow, but I've been quite surprised at the results so far. Now, I just have to keep posting stuff....
