Largemouth bass are biting on topwater along weeds and scum. They will occassionaly hit swimjigs, blue/black along weedbeds. The current is up and the fish seem to be hiding in the shallow areas and weedbeds. Try 3/8 oz or larger spinnerbaits with great vibration, like a Booyah with a colorado blade or Terminator. Also, fishing partner has had luck with knockoff chatterbaits around weed edges. Fish are fairly skiddish right now. We've also found slow fishing, letting the fish return after the lure splashes or casting onto shore and slowly dropping it is, and then reeling is working.

Remember, I've never caught a fish that I couldn't catch..?

Pool 9 was jumping this weekend! Near the Minnesota/Iowa border around New Albin. The largemouth are staying close to the lily pads. Use swim jigs, worms and frogs. Spinnerbaits are working if they are fished through the weeds. We had over 15 largemouths landed in the first 45 minutes, average 3 pounds or better. Just watch out for the slimers, they are sitting in there also, and have a few of my lures to prove it.

ooo smiley

Another very active weekend on pools 8 & 9. I didn't make it onto pool 8, so I talked to another angler I fish with. I made it onto pool 9 on Sunday. Sunday they were fairly active again staying close to shallow areas, lilypads and weedbeds. Fish actively pursued and attacked chatterbaits, noisy swim jigs, white spinnerbaits(fished shallow and fast). Minnesota Slough and Desoto Bay were both active spots. Largest of the day was a 19" largemouth. Most in the 2 to 3 pound range. Also, fairly good fishing for crappie and sunnies!
