I think CK and I need our own thread set up for the single purpose of letting us banter back and forth all day long while saying nothing of any real significance.

Maybe we could work out some sort of scoring system so at the end of each day we can see who won that day. We get bonus points if we make a point that is actually intelligent and meaningful and we lose points if we stray to far from the topic of the day.

We can even have people place bets on us. I am sure webdude can come up with some web system for collecting and paying bets. You might need to relocate to some off shore location though Webdude.

We could even draft a team of backups incase either CK or myself need to take a day off.

Sounds like this idea would atleast keep me busy during the day.

Any thoughts?

I do not need point or any other attboy to say if I'm 1 up on you or down.
I know after hundreds of trips, yes hundreds of trips that there are just a handfull that without me showing them can out do this presentaion. I even had the gall to say that Steve was finnaly giving me some comp on the lakes. If I had only known, nice foot in my mouth.

I really want to give you some slack. I was just like you before this revelation struck me several years ago. I most certainly would not have invested into all of the supplies if it were not so.
I was hard headed about it too.
I fished next to Steve for a whole year every weekend Sat& Sun ,morn& eve & he always killed me. It got that I could not take it anymore.

Once I made the switch it still was not happening for me .I relized I need to learn the technique. now that I have I try to SAVE you time by giving it all out for NOTHING. So you can take it or leave it .I just thought you'd be a better person with this knowledge.Maybe I was wrong.

The other thing is we do not need our own section. That seems a little bit of a stretch. Asking seems like a cry for help.

Wow, I was just joking around, I guess I step on a toe or two.

Not sure how this all got started with me being hard headed about the jig. I simply started by saying I wanted to give it a shot this winter since I haven't had a chance to give it a fair shake this year yet. I then followed by giving you my strategy for hitting the water or ice. I wasn't arguing or doubting the jig.

You seem very defensive about it.

I find it awesome that you are so willing to give out info about the jig and how to use it. But if someone has another way that catches them fish then don't act so offended when they prefer to not use your jig.

I was just playing around by starting this Nofish vs. CK thread. It just seems like we are the only ones that ever chime in about most of these topics. I was just having some fun while at work, which is so hard to do these days.

So just relax, your jig is a great tool as we all know since we see the results. I plan on using it as part of my everyday strategy when I hit the water. All is well in the world.

ok I get you ,but you seemed like you wanted to attack so I went with it.
I think you uderstand my points, but
you are wrong if you think the jig is the only thing that gets fish. You must have just missed that point.
I want to to become proficient with it is all .

Last winter in Feb. I met Fredy from Speedshak & his buddy. We were going to show him the jig. Well Fred& his partner gloated the drive up here how they were going to kill us with their set up.
At the end of the day those 2 had a whopping 0 for the day. Steve,Doeboy & I each culled out a full 10 a piece. It is as it always is. When the crappies get tough the the jig gets tougher. The minnows get dumped out & the guy goes home without dinner. How boring to watch a cork float. I'd return them to the store exclaiming they do not go under ,must be defective.

For me corks only get used when I would rather sit back and relax. I broke them out while on Mille Lacs last year but we were playing poker while our lines where in the water. So cork does have its advantages, its tough to play poker and jig at the same time.

When on the ice I am about 90% jig 10% bobber. When on the water I am about 45% jig, 45% troll/drift and 10% bobber.

I am not above trying anything that will catch fish. Every technique has its time and place.

I wish others would chime in more often. I see people logged in all day long but so few posts from them. Are we to controversial or maybe not controversial enough?

When I go fishing I'm fishing. No drinking because I'm bored or cards or anything else. If I do not mark fish I'm drilling new holes ever hlaf hour until I find them.
That is why you need an FL-8 so you can work the fish instead of the fish working you.
How long have I been fishing without a minnow or leech on I've heard. Well if you want to play cards you could leave your gear at home.
I hear they got a nice bridge club over at the Pier.

I have different kinds of trips. Last year we rented a house out on Mille Lacs with a bunch of guys. We fished during the day and played poker at night. We fished mainly for walleye, but perch moved through so we took took that advantage and caught a few. The point to the trip was to have fun, play cards, drink, BS, fish, and get away from the wives.

I also have trips where I go out at 10 am and fish until 8-9pm and fish hard. I might put a focus on 3-4 different species in a day like that but i am always moving and working new areas trying to get on the fish.

Without electronics moving around alot is the key, need to cover water to find the fish. Someday i will have the money to buy the expensive tools I need but for now its not in the cards.

I know what you mean there Nofish ,you can spend a grand to get set up with the bare essentials.

A protable-200-400,auger 300,locator 300,2rods@25 and 2 reels at 30and a free 5 gallon bucket to sit on.Doubles to hold fish.A lantern or light with battery.Oh & 50 jigs.

I'd refer anyone to the Eskimo Traveler. It is the only house I can stand all the up in for under 180$ It hauls great, pulls great.Lots of ventilation and windows.

I can see how it is getting away from the family to let your hair down with the guys, but I do that all of the time so when I hit the lake it is all business.

I have actually never fished from a portable, never riden a snowmobile, never used a power auger, used a flasher once, and underwater camera once.

I am a hand augering bucket sitting kind of guy. My idea of a poratble ice house is a good coat, its easy to carry, and warm, but gets a little crowded when you try to squeeze two people into it.
