Mille Lacs was pretty tough this past weekend. I was graphing a lot of stuff but couldn't get a bite to save my soul. I don't think the storms helped any. Fished Friday night and part of Saturday on the North flats. A lot of bugs in the water, probably too much to choose from for the Walleyes. Caught some nice perch, but that was about it. A pal netted a big Northern he caught off a redtail. Talked to some other folks who were having a tough bite too. The heat, storms and bugs have all made the bite a bit tough. Hopefully it will improve in the next week or two. A stable weather pattern would probably help.
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
