Well, it pretty much sucked... didn't get skunked, but sucked non the less. We were going to hit Mille Lacs on Saturday, but got so many negative reports, we decided to stick to the home turf. Caught a variety of fish, very few 'Eyes though. Notable catches were a 16" 'eye from WalleyeBoy. Tap brought in a 16" smallie and a LUNKER sucker he snagged in the dorsal. We hit all the usual spots. Fished between 4 and 16 feet using lime green or red hooks. Tried jigheads of the same color too.

Friday night there was a huge thunderstorm that more then likely spooked the fish a bit. Same thing on Saturday night, but not as much wind. Lots of lightening, though. It got so hot on Sunday, we packed up and I was home by 5 pm.

That pretty much sums up the weekend. Pretty tough fishing out there when it's so hot and you really (and I mean REALLY) gotta work for them. Now that I got a majority of the home stuff done for the summer, I am really going to try to get out more. I'll keep ya posted.

Not very good reports coming out of any part of the state right now from what I gather.

A buddy of mine spent a week in canada 2 weeks and they had to work to scratch out fish. They still were able to catch fish but it took alot of work.

They went after pike mainly, it was one fish every couple hours I guess with the biggest being 38 inches which is good but not great for the waters they were in.

This fall should be better.

There were quite a few people out in the evenings fishing for a tough bite! Those storms did not help one bit! Scares the daylight out of you when your main residece is a tin can like mine!

Great report webdude!

Yeah, those tin cans can be pretty rough in some of them storms, especially like the ones that hit Saturday and Sunday morning up in the Aitkin and Crow Wing county areas.

I wasn't there, but my brother caught his limit last weekend on BSL. Sorry, it was actually two weekends back. He was fishing the points in 8ft of water drifting with a lindy-rig and a leech. They weren't real big, but he said there was a lot. I think he said the best time was early morning 6-9. I know a lot can change in a couple of weeks, but I just thought I should share it with you.

So webdude you got a picture of that smallie right???

I was to busy helping my 5 year old twin niece and nephew to learn how to water ski. So I didn't fish at all.

The weather is killing our fishing! Who do I talk to about that?

CK,

Ya gotta talk to God.

Scum,

We didn't get a pic. We debated putting it in the livewell and bringing it in to take a snapshot, but decided against it. We did measure it, though. Took a while for Tap to get it in. I think he was using 4 lb test. Caught it on a leech with a small, plain, red metallic hook.

Yep, out on the flats in the big lake. I have seen several this big come outta there. Ask Todd. He latched on to one 2 years ago off the pontoon, but he never got it on the boat. Those things really put up a good fight!
