They were caught on plain hooks & leeches with slip bobbers in 24" of water. Towards evening and into dark.He said you could go to 8 mile flat during the day and get them too.
most of the bait shops around the lake could point out where on the map. Then take the GPS coordinates & drive right to them.

Hey Fireball,I was talking with Tony at lunch & he said he thanks the DNR for getting the lake to the kind of fishery it is now.He has been hitting the big pond all of his life and he said it's never been so good that he can remember.

Guess Mother Nature does take care of herself. A few years ago the fish were hitting harder than they were now, that was the year there was no bait for them, heck even planes were landing and catching fish, yes this year is GREAT there is plenty of bait and the fish are healthier and if you noticed have a better color to them.
Remember this is the time of year to bring the fish up slowly from the depths of ML and release them as soon as you can, the mortality of handling these fish properly will be greatly reduced.
I am heading up to WInnie for the next few weekend see how it goes up there.
