Went out on the river this morning. Walleyes were not biting on leeches or worms. The smallies were good though. Picked up a few nice ones dragging leeches on the bottom. Man, the water is sure low out there. I hope we get some more rain soon.
It's the same here on the river.I went down yesterday for some eyes .No eyes 13 smallies. The biggest was 5 lb.,the average were 2.5 lbs. Tha action was a hoot.As dry as it is you'd think the skeeters would be at a low level,WRONG. Good thing I had netting.

Ive fished the river right there in Palisade. All I ever can catch is sheepshead. I am actually going back out on the St Croix this Sun. Headed down by Afton. Maybe my luck will be better. I am planning on heading up to the cabin the following weekend. I'll have to check in with you.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
