OK, I see that the opener is May 14. Here's my question, as a newbie to MN:

It's open season for lots of species all year, so, if you're fishing for something other than 'eyes or northerns before May 14, and you hook one of them, are you OK to just release it and go on fishing?

It wasn't clear from my reading of the regs.

If you are not intentionaly fishing for them your ok. Just release them A.S.A.P!

So were are you from?

I moved out here last July from California. My wife and I bought a house in Northeast St. Paul, near Beaver Lake.

Why would you want to come here to the frozen north? Don't get me wrong, I love Minnesota been here all my life. But I hate the winters.

We came for lots of reasons, but mainly to look after my wife's parents. Now that we're here, we're staying. I don't mind the winter stuff at all, and yes, I do know that this winter is way mild.

Yes it is. It's winters like this that I'm glad I sold my snowmobile. I'm hoping to get a yamaha rhino 660 side-by-side this spring. But I have to get the wife a new house frist. We both hate living in the city.
