I just moved here from CA, and am hunting for an inexpensive aluminum boat, motor, and trailer. 14' preferred, with a 6-15hp outboard.

Old is good. Ugly is good. Not running is bad. Cheap to reasonable is excellent! If you've got something in your back 40 or you're looking to get rid of that old silver boat, I'm your guy. Answer here or at sosoftminerals@yahoo.com">ososoftminerals@yahoo.com

Hi MineralMan!

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Always good to get a new member here. After you buy the boat, come on back and tell us how you did. Fishing AND buying. May I suggest that you post in the Want Ad section as well? Might get a better response.

Anywayzzzz, Thanks for singing up!

Hey, thanks. I got here this Summer, and have been relegated to shore fishing...not the best thing, but I've had fun. Little stuff, except for a Northern about 28" at Beaver Lake here in St. Paul.

Once I have a boat, I'll be out and about later on in the year.

Love to fish, but don't have enough time, and need a cheap boat.

Sounds like you will fit in just fine here. We have a hodge podge of users from experienced guides to weekend shore hoppers to wives trying to find their hubbies. (sorry wife).

Anyway, don't be a stranger and stop on by and chew the fat. Pretty much anything goes!

Ted,

Hellos are good too. Looks like a good forum, and I hope I'll learn a lot about fishing in MN here. My experience is mainly onshore ocean fishing in California. Surf fishing and rock fishing, plus a little bow-hunting for sharks.

Not too many sharks here, so I'll have to settle for the odd muskie, if I'm lucky.

I'm really looking forward to getting on the water again.

Welcome to the board MineralMan.

Let's see...

Last year I actually did a little fishing down in the gulf. Got skunked. Had something on, not sure what it was though. Lots of wierd stuff you can catch down there.

BigBite,

Never fished the gulf. I lived near Morro Bay, halfway between LA and SF. Lots of shore fishing from the rocks there, with lots of big perch (to 4-5lb.), plus Striped Bass, rockfish, and more. Easy fishing.

But, I'm here now, permanently, so I have this whole big state with all its lakes to explore. I can't wait for open water.

Hi Mineral Man. I lived in Oxnard/Ventura for a couple years and fished the area your talking about. THER GREAT NEWS IS that fishing Minnesota/Wisconsin area is (in my humble opinion) a 100 times better than out on the coast. More exciting, more diversity, and just a lot of fine folks to help along the way. One of the best things is the incredible variety of species available and the diversity of options. From small streams to wade for trout/smallmouth/pike to natural lakes with all species from little sunnies by the schools to 40 plus pound muskies to deep clear lakes with trophy pike/lake trout and walleye....its always possible to find a place and species to connect on. Lot's of luck this year.

Fisher,

I grew up in Ventura County. I'm glad to see someone else here who lived in CA. This really looks like a great state for fishing. I just hope I can find a boat and the time to spend. I'll have to check with my wife, though....[grin]
