We ventured out on Big Sandy most of the week over the 1st through the 9th. The key on Big Sandy was again 6ft hammered copper using head hooked crawlers or leeches. We stayed in the main lake on the roughest water we could find.

Went over and fished Squag with Crappie Kieth and my adopted fishing son. He brought in a 22" and once again I think he will be up at the camper a few more weekends. Look at the smile on his face!

Turtle boy even made a grand appearence in the fishing boat! His older brother is basically shot after going to Canada. I can barely get him in the boat!

SB,
Those are some very nice pics, I look forward to seeing them on the home page. When you say the trick on BSL is hammered coppper are you talking about a spinner on a crawler harness or what. It's funny I've fished bsl a lot of years and I'm totally stuck on colored hooks and bobbers and if that's not working, I will try a lindy rig or a jig and bait. Anyway, I like to hear about different things that are working. Thanks for the pics and the report.

I like to use 6 to 8 foot hand tied lindy rigs with a #1 or #2 hammered copper colorado blade tipped with a red hook. Glow beads first choice and red beads second choice. I also start at .6 to 1.0 mph off of the GPS. Pick up your crawler and thread the hook through the head and out. Drop your rig in the water and make sure the crawler is not spinning like crazy. If it is rehook. Speed I think on sandy can really be the key along with using a trolling motor and not your full size motor. When your trolling in water less than 8ft you need to be quite. Lets hook up and you can get first hand lessons!

oh gosh will you teach me ole mighty one?
I am ready to go deep or stay home. With these temps, the eyes are moving out ,but we are still getting the active ones feeding.
My buddy went into maydoff's logan and caught 50 pike with 1 at 20 lbs. He tossed everyone back. Anyone feeling like doing a logan for pike.
I use buzz baits or a spook. I do love seeing them come to the top ,stalk & coil up to drill the top water baits.

Well your quick ,suprisingly after the hard week of fiiiisssshhing.
You must have tought turtleboy some of you're old tricks.I'll just have to turn him on you. Next time I see him I'll have a turtle for him,HA!!!!!!!He'll love me for ever. It will come with direction, which are ...GO SEE DAD...
Feeding & water changes.Yummy smell ooooooooo hehehehee

Really, the guys down on Mille Lacs do the same thing, snell length -everything including blade color & size.
The trick is to not spook em like you said. That shallow water requires stealth.
I'm glad to hear you had action.Boys be eatin good in da neighbor hood.

SB,
That sounds good I will let you know the next time I will be up. That's funny that you prefer red hooks, I do too, they seam to work good on that lake. I won't be up this weekend and who knows when i will be there next but I will let you and CK know so we can all hook up hang out and catch some fish.
