ive been on the hunt for a flashlight for my night fishing trips, and i recently came across this one called miniBeam. not only is it waterproof and floating, but its also got an option for green LEDs that wont spook fish, dont attract bugs, and enhances peripheral night vision. i have taken it out with me and even bought a few for around the house. check out the website all is www.mini-beam.com
I was really impressed when I read that fellow catfish man Jack Love had invented it. read this article below -catfish pat

Jack Love knows how popular night fishing has grown, and he’s made it his business to improve the dark conditions that come along with the abundant catch. From the tiny rivers and streams in Great Bend, to the international fishing market, the veteran guide’s new LED flashlight is the culmination of a life of fishing achievement.

With the help of Baltimore based manufacturer American Ingenuity, Love has crafted a flashlight with features reflecting his passion for the outdoors. MiniBeam is water proof, shock proof, and it floats, making it the premiere choice for water related activities. It is available with special green LED lights that won’t spook fish, don’t attract bugs and even enhance peripheral night vision. “I wanted the flashlight to be as relevant to fishing as possible”, says inventor and award winning sportsman Jack Love. “By developing the MiniBeam together with American Ingenuity, we’ve been able to build something adequate at a really honest price”. Love’s modesty is almost as charming as the tiny flashlight itself, with many distributors eagerly awaiting its production.

There is a full line of accessories which are contributing to MiniBeam’s love affair with night fishing. The Net Light attaches to any size net or pole for improved netting accuracy at night, while the Arm Light can be used for hands free illumination when setting lures. Anyone can appreciate the Tripod attachment, which has proven to find footing anywhere directed light is needed.

Retailing for just $8.00 ($10.00 for green or red LED versions), the MiniBeam is also an excellent choice in a daily use flashlight. It will run for 36 hours on fresh batteries, which come included in packaging. The LED lights are so powerful that they can be seen up to a mile away, an added bonus in the event of a search and rescue. Recognizing the demand for colored lights in specialty markets, American Ingenuity has also produced a red LED version of MiniBeam. Pilots and truckers alike will appreciate the enhanced reading capabilities that the special bulbs provide.

that's a great invention.... anything that doesn't spook fish is good. Myself I still carry around my MINI Maglite at night, mostly because it fits into the front pocket of a pair of jeans without caught a problem when sitting.

The arm-light accessory for that would be really nice to have.. for ANY flashlight could could actually see AND tie your knots at the same time. I doubt I'm the only one who's ever used a small flashlight in their mouth to see to tie a knot in the late evening.

Even a BAD day of fishing is better than a good day of work; paydays excluded!
