Well... here we go again! if you have been visiting this forum for a while, you know that every once in a while I post statistics on how the site is doing. I do this because I feel that we are all a team here and you people deserve to know some of the information that pertains to this site. The site is 2 years and 3 months old and considering how young the site is... Well... it appears we are doing great! If this stuff bores you... just pretend this post isn't here. :-)

Don't know where to start so I will just dig in!

In May, which was our busiest month ever, we broke the 50,000 visits per month mark! Yippee Skippee!! We had 51,000 visits. 52% of these visitors were new... This is UNIQUE NEW visits, folks! We also have a new milestone in page views at 151,000. What this means is that we had 51,000 people on the site last month and they looked at 151,000 pages. Not bad... not bad! Something I would like to improve on, though, is that 1 in 6 first time visitors hit the home page and then left.... mmm probably not what they are looking for, perhaps.

51% of all new visits were referred by a search engine, 14% were referred by another site, and 35% were not referred. What this means is that 35% of the visitors either filled in the site in the browser address bar or bookmarked the site. This is way down from the last time I checked... oh well.

So what are the most popular pages you ask? Well, I thought you would never ask!
Here are the top 5...

1. /minnesota-fishing-forum.taf - main forum
2. /FishingForumLogin.taf - login page? this is different
3. /Minnesota-Fishing-Lake-Maps.taf - this suprises me too!
4. /FishingandDNR.taf - and this
5. /Minnesota-Fishing-Forums.taf - our new main forum page

On the search engine front, Google beat out MSN and Yahoo handily by referring a whopping 35%

Ranking has shifted a bit. On Google, the phrase Minnesota Fishing is popping us up at #5, sometimes #4. Minnesota Fishing Forum we are at #1. Hooray! Finally!

On MSN, the phrase Minnesota Fishing is popping us up at #6 - a slight down turn (used to be #5). Minnesota Fishing Forum, we are STILL #1, Yippee Skippee! Not bad at all.

On Yahoo, Minnesota Fishing is placing us at #10 - another slight drop. Minnesota Fishing Forum, we got the #2 AND #3 spot. Same as the last time I checked

Some of the phrases being used to find us. Here is a list of the top 10...

1. minnesota lake maps 7.73%
2. minnesota dnr 6.58%
3. mn dnr 5.34%
4. lake winnibigosh 5.05%

7. ottertail lake 1.95%
8. winnibigosh 1.91%
9. mn fishing forum 1.83%
10. fishing minnesota 1.68%

mmmm.... Dontchya find this stuff interesting!

1. www.lakesuperiorfishing.com 13.34%
2. www.lakeeriecharterfishing.com 3.23%
3. www.superstrikecharters.com 2.40%
4. www.identicards.com 2.36%

I didn't realize this site got that many people looking at it. Good information. Any other sites out there give this information out?

I actually use an in-house program and Google Analytics. Analytics is free... just need to place a piece of code on each page you want added to the program.

The other program is LiveStats.XSP made by Deep Metrix. Very comprehensive. I have the virtual version and run it on about 20 sites for clients. Does graphs, search phrases, demographics, pretty much everything a company needs for statistics. I believe the virtual (up to 500 sites) costs around 1000.00. Not sure about that. I have had the program for 5 years and have gone through an upgrade process.

Might be a lot cheaper for a single license.
