Here is a site that is for bass fishing that needs some more content and members. It has some different types of content than Minnesota Fishing Forum, so I hope I don't make everyone mad by talking about it. I really like Minnesota Fishing Forum, but I really like this new one too. I guess if you want to go look at it then great, and if not, you don't have to look at this post or read about it anymore. If you do choose to go check it out, great! I will be seeing more of you. Here is the link to the site:

The Bass Fishing Forum

This site is brand new and some people here have already joined. I know I enjoy using a couple different sites. The nice thing about this new one is that it has lots of tournament results, and also breaks down fishing reports by states in case you want to go somewhere else to fish.
There is a topic stating that the site is going to host a tournament every year. The tournament is hopefully going to have a guaranteed $2000 first prize. The way the location will be decided is that the state with the most fishing reports will be host of the years tournament. No state will get to host he tournament twice either.
The site also has forums to buy/sell any bass fishing product and is easy to navigate. One other thing is that they are hosting monthly contests for members and the prizes are tackle packs worth more than $20 each.

Oh, and just like all these other sites, this one is "free" too. It does have advertisers, but in my opinion, that is not a bad thing. I have found many great products after seeing an advertisement on a fishing website. Anyway,
I didn't mean to bore you guys, Minnesota Fishing Forum is an awesome site and I am very glad I found it. You all have some very good information and tips, and I love learning from it. Thanks for taking time to read this.

Hey bassncop,

Don't mind at all... you gotta start somewhere. Maybe someone on that site would like to exchange links? You know the people who run it?

I'll go there if they allow THIS site to be shown on there?

I just went and looked around.. they'd charge you $25 a year to have your link on a LINKS page.

Scumfrog in on there.. I assume it's the same Scumfrog.... he might know more about it.. though the Minnesota fishing reports section is a little bare right now. I'll hold off joining myself for now..

Webdude,

I do know the guy who runs it and will ask him to trade links with you. I don't think he'll have a problem with that. I'll get with him and check it out for you.

Sportsnut218,

The Minnesota fishing report section is bare because no one from Minnesota other than scumfrog has joined. You guys are going to have to be the pioneers and venture out there. If you got on there and posted your reports then you could show everyone else what great fishing is in Minnesota and how you all catch your bass. Not to mention you are entered into a drawing for free tackle just for posting. You can also post on there where you heard about the forum and say it was this one. The site is not trying to "steal" people from forums like this one, it is just trying to bring people from different states together. Hope to see you all there.

I've been around here since this site started and I have seen this happen time and time again. 'Dude ain't gonna keep out other sites. It's what makes this site as popular as it is. It's the whole principal of why this site is here. Read the mission statement. Exchange of information includes other sites. Be the sites bad or good. You see, this is the place where you can give your unbiased opinion. So head on over there. If you like what you see, go ahead and join. If not, don't.

Make sure you come back here and tell us all about it though. That's what makes this site so great ;-)

Been a while, but I gotta chime in here. I checked them out and it seems like a legit place. It's just starting out so the posts are a little thin. My opinion would be to check them out. Kind of hard to base a whole forum on one species, though. There are already a few for bass.

I found this in a past post. It's something Webdude wrote... Pay attention, people!

"Thanks very much for the kudos. I appreciate it. The best way to help this site is by getting others to join in. I have a vision whereas this site would become the premier place for folks to go for any type of information related to fishing in Minnesota. Maybe eventually, the world (but we'll see). The one thing that I have in my favor is the fact that this is a totally non-profit site and that gives me a much greater leeway then the other sites out there. I don't have to worry about making a buck, pissing off people, whether or not you are a contributor or pay for ads, etc., etc. This gives this site an unbiased approach to anything that has to do with fishing, be it the forums, articles, stories, whatever I happen to dream up.

I have guides that post here, magazines that have contacted me about this site, even been getting some mentions in some of the fishing blogs. I actually had an owner of another one of the Minnesota Fishing sites call me up and try to buy this site from me. The problem is I am afraid of what they will turn this site into. I like it the way it is and I think that it is going fine. You gotta remember that this thing is less then 2 years old and there are a lot of established sites and marketing that I have to break into. It just takes times and effort on my part and hopefully some effort on the part of people who enjoy coming here to chew the fat.

One thing you forum people probably don't realize, because you come straight here to see posts and reply and stuff, is that the directory is becoming quite popular. The reason for this is that I don't require anything from the people and businesses who want their site listed there. The only thing I do is check to make sure the site is legitimate and about fishing and up it goes. I have been contacted by big boat manufacturers like Smoker Craft and Alumnicraft, tackle manufacturers like Northland and Tyger, and lots of others, some I've heard of, some not. The point is that it is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more fishing related businesses and people out there. I kind of look at the directory as hopefully becoming the next "Yahoo" of fishing. That would be great. And the only reason I am mentioning the directory is that it shows that people know we are here and some are beginning to believe that this site will or is starting to become a force in the fishing community. Another thing is that the directory is international. I am starting to get a lot of stuff from Europe and Mexico coming in. So all the work some day may pay off.

Another part of the site that is very popular is the picture sections. Not sure why. I think people like looking at fish. How big they are, who caught them, etc. It helped a lot when Google crawled my pictures and added many of them in their image database. In fact, Tap Tap Tap told me someone found a picture of him through Google, holding up a nice slab (heaven forbid he would ever catch something that big :-)). Another very popular part of the site is the kids pictures. It brings a smile to my face just looking at them. Personally, I think that was the smartest thing I ever did, starting those pages and database. Nothing like the smile of a kid with a nice size 'eye heh? Ya gotta love it.

Anyway, I am rambling on again. So if you really want to help this site, get a buddy to join or spread the word and get those posts going. The more information the better. At some point I am going to have to bust the forums up a bit so people can find the info faster and better, but 'til that time comes, just keep posting, reports, info. weather, where, when, how, etc... I don't care. Just keep it going folks!"

I couldn't of said it better myself...
