Here’s the thing about that……I see the point of lead weight being banned. And that’s where this is going.

But it should be banned for sale for ten years in the state before it can’t be use.

Personally I doubt PETA has anything to do with the "Get the lead out" campaign. They are 100% against fishing, this is basically just giving anglers the chance to see what the non lead alternatives are like.

If the lead we use can in fact harm the birds and animals that we all love then why would we all be so stubburn to this change over? Are you fine with harming wildlife needlessly?

Its not that I don't care about this issue its more that I don't agree with you. I don't think this is a move by PETA to hurt fisherman, and I don't think this is the government trying to control us for no reason.

I do however think that just maybe the lead that we put into the lakes may have a harmful effect on loons and other fowl. Why would I use somthing that I know is harming the wildlife that I love if I have another option?

If given a reasonable option that is cost effective to use I will certainly give up lead. A weight is a weight, as long as it gets my hook and bait to the fish then it did its job. If it does its job without hurting the wildlife then thats even better.

Sometimes fisherman are needlessly stubburn and have a hard time seeing reason. Not everything is a government conspiracy to further their control over us.

It sounds like you are more concerned with yourself and your wants then the needs of the environment and wildlife.

Yeah maybe at somepoint in the future you may need to find a new way to make jigs lead free. But for now they are not going to outlaw lead weights atleast not until there is a good alternative that is just as cost effective.

It seems like you think you will starve to death if the take your lead away becuase yuo won't be able to catch any fish. I doubt that will be the case.

We may live in different parts of the state right now but your way of life isn't entirely foreign to me. Yeah maybe you don't have fast food on every corner but just becuase I do doesn't mean anything. I can't remember the last time i ate at a Mcdonalds or a place like it.

When i fish I rarely take a limit. In fact I haven't taken a limit in the last 5 years. I will take enough fish for one meal for myself and thats it. That doesn't mean i don't catch limits.

It really feels like this is less about the environment and more about you just no wanting to be told what to do.

If I am told something I am doing may potentialy harm the environment you better believe that I will look for ways to change what I am doing. If the studies are correct and birds are being harmed by lead and you are still more concerned with your need to make lead jigs then please do not continue to preach to us all that we don't care about the environment like you have been doing. Why would you care about dedicated funding for wildlife conservation if you aren't even concerned enough to consider what your own actions may be doing to birds.
