Not what your thinking... I laid a pile of trust into my son and his buddy from the campsite. One is nearing 13 and the other is 12. They both have there firearm safety certificate and my son has already shot his first deer. It took some bartering as to what equipment and were they could go but here is the grand voyage without an adult.

They shure took a harsh lesson at the landing as to how much stuff dad needs to get ready!

Didn't experience going out on a boat with friends as a kid actually...all my friends were baseball playing the same time I was but they never got into fishing. Fished a ton with Grandpa/Grandma all summer's where I picked up the "hobby."

As the commercial on tv says 'teach me to drive the boat' it took about 2 years fishing with him, for Grandpa to have enough trust (ok.. it was more out of neccessity) to show me how to run it ... strange story that involves him running .. at 70 yrs old to an outhouse but I'll keep this family instead wink smiley

Living on Section 10 lake was were I remember my best years. We had a gruman sportsman with a johnson 6 hsp. Every day when the school bus dropped me off I'd go home say hi mom,bye mom as I grabbed a fresh carmel roll & headed for dock.
I think I was on my own when I was 12.
By then I finished my Jr.lfesaving and had to wait until I was 14 to get my Sr. life saving cert.so they knew I could swim ,but oh the trouble ,mischief maker I was. I know your boys would never be like I was or all of my other buds at the time were.
Curiosity is the thing,so for you to get involved & show them is great. Most of the time when I wanted to know ,I found out the hardway. Hey if I put on this leather chopper on and put a black cat into the sucrets box will it hurt when it goes bang.Hello!
nice pics SB,they brought a smile to me.
Have a good day eh!
