I already know turtle boy, it would be cheating if I guessed.
I was out sat. on BSL during the rain. I put a bud into a 30 lb. big mouth buffalo. He had 6 test & did a fine job of playing her in.
Other than that it sucked,a few small eyes & pike.Squag was none to kind either with gail force winds, a few eyes there too,but the wind was killing me,mostly my bud.I was will to find outta the wind spots ,but he had taken enough.I'll give him credit for sitting in that bow mount seat and bouncing 3 feet up & down. I had more fun when I got to to see the NHRA finals once I got home. One of our neighbors Jason Line took 1st in Pro Stock. His brother just wired up our addition.Anyway I think I'm giving way to the big fish thing now. I'll be hitting the river with my spooks & buzz baits. Heres to 40 "pike & 50" muskies.I've seen them swim by when I'd be walleye fishing so I'm after them dare critters.I'm sure I'll snag a few eyes between now & the drags as I did promise last year to bring another batch of them eyes.I'm glad you had a good family wk/end SandBurr.

So does that get you what like 3 more fishing trips?

carp. If you go to the dnr website and look at fish species, then look at other species. That's where you'll see the big moth buffalo.
There was at least 20 "big" swirls at the water surface as we trolled through them in Bill Horn-n.end.All of a sudden my bud says I got a dandy on.At first I thought it was an eye ,but as it got to the surface it was a carp.30 lbs. and he though it to be a monster. When I told him the state record was 10 lbs. bigger he sat silently which is a hard thing for Paul to do !Hey round eye I said to him,how was that battle? Wow is all that came out.The rain sucked ,but what a reward! We kept trolling down to the Prairie with 1 more pike to come before we called it a day.I should have stayed were the buffalo were.It looked like a good fight ,heck just lifting that monster with the net was a chore.
Ole PB working them flatheads would give the guy about the same fight. Paul had a 7' medium Fenwick with 6 test.
I'd say the other buffalo I saw earlier this spring was a better battle on 2 test & a 5' U.L.rod,either way both guys had round eyes after netting the fish. The both exclaimed the same thing too. WOW!

Bigmouth Buffalo (Ictiobus cyprinellus)
The bigmouth buffalo, the largest member of the sucker family, lives in lakes and rivers in most of Minnesota except for the Lake Superior watershed. Unlike many fish, it can survive in cloudy, warm water.

Identification
General description: Unlike other members of the sucker family, the bigmouth buffalo has a mouth at the front of its face. It looks like a carp without barbels.

Size: Buffalo are big. They can grow 3 feet long or longer and weigh more than 50 pounds The Minnesota record is 41 pounds, 1 ounce, caught in the Mississippi River in Goodhue County.

Color: Bigmouth buffalo range in color from green to gold to almost black. They have a coppery sheen.

Reproduction
The female buffalo lays her eggs in shallow water in April or May. Several males get involved, pushing her to the surface and swimming rapidly, flailing tails. Called "tumbling," this helps fertilization by mixing eggs and milt. Eggs hatch after about 10 days.

Food
These big fish support themselves largely on a diet of tiny foods: zooplankton, algae, plants, insect larvae, and other small invertebrates.

Predators
Predatory fish such as walleyes, northern pike and bowfin eat small bigmouth buffalo. People harvest this fish commercially, and it is available in some grocery stores. The fish can have a muddy taste unless it comes from clean water.

Habitat and range

Bigmouth buffalo live in lakes, large rivers, and swamps. They can live in shallow, slow-moving water with a silty, muddy bottom and can tolerate low oxygen and high temperatures (up to 90 degrees). In Minnesota, they are found in the Red River, Mississippi, and Minnesota river basins. They are most common in the St. Croix and lower Mississippi rivers.

Population and management
Buffalo are abundant in much of Minnesota and are in no danger of overharvest. Ditching and draining for farmlands, which eliminated shallow lakes, may have reduced bigmouth buffalo populations in the first half of the 20th century.

Fun facts
Unlike other suckers, buffalo may move in schools. Sometimes they are found hanging out at the surface of a lake or river. One nickname is "baldpate," because the fish has a big, bare head.

Your still married I'm not,but when it was my b-day or dads day well I know I'd be on the water. It didn't even have to be my day. I went fishing anyway.I had her trained to say oh,just go fishing instead of honey will you do this or that.
It's all in the prenup. I get to go fishing & hunting when ever I desire. I had her initialize the stipulation.Even when I propossed I through in the "as long as I get to " & she agreed.
It was the only thing that I asked for from her oh ya to be loyal to me .She sold out the show to another circus.Well now there are no excusses to be sitting at home with dry line disease.

"You are married I am not"

I dont plan on saying that any time soon. Marriage is a work in process giving and taking every day.

I knew here & her family as they were neighbors.I went to school, rode the bus, sunday school & church with them.I played ball with her brothers so I knew the family well. Once I saw those 2 little kids I knew what I had to do. Well one day the youngest says are you are daddy & the oldest says are you going to be our daddy?
Well I looked at Cheri & asked her when was I going to be the daddy.I never was hooked on her ,but the kids was a different story.
I put alot of time aside for them and when they got old enough they went were I went .Fishing ,hunting. We flew & built rockets,I even went to school when David was in 3rd grade to teach all of the 3rd grade classes the art of building and launching rockets.David is 18 now & going into the U.S.Marines & he wants to be a doctor. He's had straight A's since going to 7th grade. He is a yes sir kind of kid. He listens and follows directions.Well he's a man now ,but I 'll always think of him as my boy!
