Well the eyes are biting at dusk in 9-11 feet of water along the breaks.Black & pearl shad have been the ticket trolling at 1.5 mph.
We tossed back a nice 8 lb er plus lost 2 others that were the same size or a tad bigger. Many 16"-18" eaters.

By friends that do the big pond (Mille Lacs) say they are nailing good numbers with several over 26".

Upper Red is producing the walleyes to along with the slab crappie and some of the drum/sheephead.Big pike too!

The river is putting out decent fish too if you can fight off the skeeters.

CK,
Now i'm jealous looking at the size of that hog. That's one thing about fishing on Big Sandy, I think I've been fishing it for over 20 years and have only seen one 28" and one 27" in all of that time. Those were nice fish but way too few and far between. The northerns (carp) are small too, but I did manage to get a 42" out of there in 89 for the wall. I think it weighed 22 lbs. Anyway, GREAT picture and I would love to hit that lake with you sometime. I won't be up this weekend, I'm gonna stick around town and save some gas money smile smiley

You got it BobberDown. Now you can see why I do not spend many days on BSL during open water fishing, but hard water is a way different story. I can not find a better quality crappie than BSL.Limit for limit the slabs on BSL take 1st prize any day of the week.
I'll get my boat into many of these every year. The year before last was one of my best tossing back at least 50 over 24". The biggest was 12.5 lbs.
Just get with me soon. This will last into July then they will get tougher to find. With the cold front breaking this 3 weeks of 80 degree temps.the water will cool a bit which should elongate the period that the eyes will be up on the break ,not down off of it.

I've been getting eyes ,but the bite is slow.I think the warm weather has all of the bugs hatching so they have had mucho forage available. The bite should get better.
The big pond has been putting out big numbers too.I might try to get there in the next few days. If the wind is up you can forget it.I've been pounded enough by that lake.

The geese are really moving around. Each year their numbers have increased.Early goose should be a real hoot!
