My dad was in the Korean war and the tail end of WWII.He was a sniper & one hell of a shot. Growing up in the Cedarbrook area just east of Aitkin. They were farmers and lived off of the land. I was taught as he was from grandpa that we should take care of our land.I was taught to trap, hunt and fish. He taught me the how too's in dressing game out. He taught me alot of things like tracking, survival, respecting the land. To this day when I look at how I turned out I can point back to my teachers and admire them . Wars have taken many of our relatives & to give thanks that they took the bullit or shrapnel or laid on a grenade so that we Americans can have the right or should I say duty to speak up and say whats needed to be said without being jailed & persecuted. Sure it is a holiday,& I for one will be on the land that my fathers ashes are on with my brothers ashes saying thank you. Remember what you have now is because of them that went before us. We sports people are being challanged again and again by groups that want to take away our rights to hunt ,fish and most of all our pursuit to happiness as in our constitution. Do not give up as your fathers did not.Do not let the non conservationist derail our cause. Be strong like you father was & make them all proud as I am sure they are watching over us. To me a day without fishing or hunting is almost like death,I promised my dad that I will not let his memory fade & that I will carry the banner of freedom for all to see.

It is one thing to loose a mom or a dad. It is another to loose all of your buddies in such a short period of time. I've seen death once when my brother took a shotgun blast to the chest. I was standing shoulder to shoulder with him when it happened. It could have been me. I saw how his eyes rolled back, heard the air escaping from his lungs as I held him.The blood was everywhere.
Again I will praise all of our servicemen & women who go before us to take on our cause of freedom. May God bless their souls & give peace to them.
THANKYOU
