Anyone heading up to Canada for their opener this weekend? I am heading out of town on friday and coming back on Tues. Fishing the west end of Lac Seul in Ear Falls. I thought it was a long wait for our opener, this week is already taking way to long! Hopefully I will have some pics to share when we get back.

You can fill out a form at the Immagration Office at the Border, better to do it early, plus $200.00 Canuck and you still don't know if you can cross. After 6 years it disappears from record. My friend works at the Border he said it's worse getting back to the US.A Passport to go fishing plus a body cavity search,,,,why haven't they done hat at the Mexican Border?

Got turned down at the border myself last August, from a dee dub 7 years ago. You can pay a fee down in the cities and they will review your cas and decide if you are elligible for a pass across. If they still not sure they will ask for more to do a further review and think it over some more. In the end they can still say no and you just payed them $1400 to look at your case.

I heard it is money to just try and appease the queen so they say.
Went up there 4 times before they finally ran a thurough check and caught me. On my way up to see my daughters wedding of all things. Had to miss it....that sucked.

After ten years, from your last dui, and no more infractions I htink they can consider letting you threw alot easier. That is what they said to me when they turned me back. Try again in 3 years.

Bobmusky my be right though, wrote them at same time.

I heard something about them fighting over the limit you can have, Canada wants there rules applied, and we want our rules to apply. I think it is hurting the guide business up there badly. I believe if you go to the ontario side you can only take back one fish.

But as you can tell by how my sentences start I don't know CRAP!
It's all hearsay.

I have a few issues with the Canadian goverment. In my business there are codes to comply with. In the U.S. it has been legal to burn wood & gas in the same furnace .U.L.listed to operate this way for 33 years, but CSA does not allow ,however it is ok to burn wood/oil in the same unit with a common flue.I lose business ,because of the old ruling.Since no Candian businesses have this type it does not get tested nor does the standard get challeged. Many of their constituents
want this product ,but until an act of god happens they have to spend several thousands of dollars to get a 1 off where U.L.C. will go in and test after the install. Well how backwards is that.

It is pretty in Can.,but it looks the same this side of the border.Besides during the week I can go to many lakes and be the only boat on it,so therefor I get my R&R without giving my $$$ to the Canadians.
Either a week in the BWCAW canoeing or a houseboat on Crain gives you the AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!Have fun & enjoy!
The 1st night seems to be the best.

Fish on

My problem with the first night is that I tossed and turned till about 3am last year because of the excitement for my first opener up there. This year I will just have to bring a bottle and put myself out by 11!

If your friend or anyone with a DUI "felony in canada" is not driving and you have no other violations which would entail the officers checking everybody there is a good chance he will be allowed in.

But there is a chance if checked they may not let him in at all or there could be a delay and you may be able to pay the fee at the border.

It's best to have a back up plan in place.
