Who would be in for a little walleye contest?
Only walleyes would count,no rough fish, like northerns or muskies, bass.
We would have a minimum length to count, like at least 16" .
Take a pic of it and post it.
We will work off of the honor system.I promise not to use dynomite/dupont spinners

Any other ideas??
Winner gets to say I smoked all of my fishingpals. He could be the king for 1 year until next year when he would fight to maintain his stature as the KING.Maybe it could be an annual thing.

what would be the dates of the contest? Is it just for opener or for the season?

I say just the opener. LSF is talking about having one too if any of you spend time on that site. To make it honest we should I think we should have to have the date either on the pic or written behind the fish on paper. Also another question, what about slots? Does the fish have to be legal, or out of the slot to count?

I guess it really wouldnt matter. Most people arent going to keep their big fish anyway. What I meant is I fish Vermilion alot and with the new slot would say a 25 inch fish count? Even though it is in the slot. I guess I thought about it and answered my own question.

I'm in. Hopefully I will have a picture for you this weekend. Mine is cut to only Saturday because of a work trip they planned for me (great timing huh?!) but I'll try my best. Good luck everyone.

Ladies (yest there are a few on here) and Gentlemen--I will make a few suggestions based off of one of these a forum in Fla. did for a shark tourney that I watched but didn't participate in.

First, come up with an item that must be in the picture. Something small and cheap. Don't reveal the item until the day before the tourney starts. A purple lighter, something like that that you can set next to the fish and the measuring tape.

Second--set a time limit. From the opener to August 31, Oct. 31 or whatever. Shorter, longer, whatever. Maybe even set up legs, May 13 to June 30, July 1 to August 31, September 1 to Oct. 31.

Third--come up with a scoring system. Minimum size is a start. Then, points per fish and/or points per size. Say any fish from 16 to 20 is worth one point, 20-24 is 2pts., etc. Bonus for 10 biggest fish, 10 pts. for biggest, 9 for second, etc. This is a suggestion, come up w/your own. Maybe only biggest 10 or 20 fish get points, whatever it is, but come up w/it now. Also, determine how fish will be measured--mouth closed and tail pinched, or whatever--but come up w/it before you start so there are no issues.

Fourth--have someone who is on the forum regularly but who is not participating as your judge. Even if there is no money or prizes involved you will have disputes. Pick someone neutral and make his (or her) decisions final. I would volunteer to do it since I live far away, don't know any of you personally and would otherwise be impartial but I am not on here regularly enough and might fall behind.

Fifth--again a suggestion--have the top 4 finishers in each leg do a one-day "fish-off" somewhere. This might be tough since Minn. is such a big state but you never know.

Another suggestion is to have teams. 3 or 4 anglers to a team, maybe the winning team from each leg goes to the fish off.

If you get enough people you can get t-shirts, hats, etc. made. Make it fun, but have enough ground rules that you don't end up hating each other at the end.

Good luck. I'll be watching.
