Just in case you're heading north .. farthern north than Cloquet, it seems that the DNR and the places that sell licenses are having problems with their machines letting them access the state licensing computers.

FROM the article:

""It's been out here since Friday. We haven't been able to sell any licenses," said Bill Hanson, owner of Sawbill Canoe Outfitters in Cook County. "We had someone come in this morning who said they'd stopped everywhere along the North Shore and it was the same problem.""

Most everyone here I'm sure already has their license, but just in case. I know you can get it on the dnr's website but it costs more there for some reason.

TTT!

You have a few days to grab the lisence before you leave folks...let's not let the DNR's computer system ruin your first good outing of the year. Think ahead and buy before you leave. I've been bitten in a similar fashon in the past and it stinks!!!!! Thanks sportsnut218 for the news. Hope thye get them going soon, but if not...better to be prepaired.

There was the same problem with deer hunting permits. Make sure you get out & get your liscence now.
The DNR will not give you a break if you try to use the excuse of the machine was down.

I guess it would just be better to have your license ahead of time before you go, why wait in line on Friday evening or Saturday.

Get it over the internet. It is worth the extra $2 or $3, esp. with the price of gas, to avoid lines, potential computer issues, etc. Plus you can do it at your convenience. For those who have not done it, they give you an authorization number so you can fish right away and you get your paper lic. in the mail in a few days.

In Fla. you can actually buy a 5-year license now. Great idea. Not sure if you can up there but it might be worth looking into. Fla. is a little different though, your license is good for a year (or 5 yrs.) from the day you get it, they don't all expire on the same day.

I already got my license but I tried to go to the Minnesota fishing license website which is at minnesota fishing license online but it says the site is temporarily closed, so who knows now.
