Hi all. Just stumbled across this forum tonight. I'm going to be staying on Island Lake (the one near Crosby, MN) at the end of May. Has anyone fished this lake? Any other good lakes around Crosby with access?
Crappies are biting in the shallows of most lakes. Minnows and small jigs have been the hot ticket on Milford Lake, Lake Adney, Rabbit Lake, Black Hoof Lake and Serpent Lake in less than eight feet of water. A few more sunfish have been found this week in four to six feet of water on many area lakes. Not sure about the 'eyes yet.
I heard that this lake has some decent crappies in it. I tried to fish it once but I got stuck in the snow several times that day and didn't get much fishing in. It seems like a nice little lake, its very close to the places I have fished all my life. Let us know what you find.
Hey T-Bone ,My cousin last name of Berry has had a place on Island lake for about 50 years. It has walleyres ,bass and northerns. I'd imagine it has crappies .You should go to the dnr link ,lake finder. You can get all sorts of info . I'm over here in Palisade & it is not far ,maybe 20-25 minutes.

People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
