until the Minnesota opener to Target Walleye so I went into my backyard "pool 2 Mississippi River" and was all set to head down the stairs to my favorite creek which feeds into the Mississippi, that is until I ran into a friend at the Bait store who brought me to his Ba$$ and Walleye spot on the River.
We caught 10 Smallie's right off the dock at his Marina the ba$$ were chasing 3" or 4" sunfish we would listen for the comotion and cast towards the airborne sunny who was trying fly to save his life and about half the time the Ba$$ would nail our 1/4oz jig tipped with fathead.

He kept laughing and telling me the Walleye's were coming and he was right.

We ended up with a half dozen Eye's.

So tonight I rolled down the stairs to the creek and had some luck again.

First fish a 15" Eye on a gold jig tipped with a fathead minnow.

I picked up 2 white Ba$$ they fight real good but they were not what I was looking for.

I decided to switch to Rapala's New Hot Tiger Shad Rap,
first cast a 10" Sauger.

And after 2 more Eyes I ended the night with a 5lb carp.

Hey Congrats Pier Bridge--

10 smallmouth--What a blast! I agree about how fun the river is because of its unpredictability. Did you see any schools of those white bass or were they more loners? Great pics--again congrats!

Of course WebDude.

BD not counting the carp the biggest was my friends 18" Eye I lost about 22" Eye last night I pinch the barbs on all my trebles when I fish the River it's easier on the fish, you lose a few more but that's OK I just like my pole to bend, can't wait for the opener.

Jason I caught 2 whiteys back to back not sure if was a couple loners or not normally we not see the white bass schooling until the water warms later but there has been reports of good action up by the dam.

Keith don't make me come up there early and put another WOOPING on you!!!!
